Hardy & fast growing, slightly pendulous branches with brown male flowers & bright red female flowers on separate trees. Forms dense mats of pine needles underneath. Glossy Black Cockatoo food tree. Frost hardy, good shade & street tree.

Widely distributed along east Australia through to Tasmania. Despite it's large range, this species is being cleared heavily for urban development.
Small to medium tree with weeping green needle like foliage and seasonal cones which are a valuable food source for Glossy Black Cockatoo. Plants are either male or female, so for best fruit crop it is recommended to have a couple of each.
Versatile species making an attractive screen. Shallow root systems that can tolerate poor soils but grows best in soil with some drainage.
