TREE TO 35 METRES TALL
Huge, spreading buttressed fig which can grow as a strangler or directly in soil. Thick glossy green leaves & large to 6cm long, very tasty, edible purple fruit is traditional bush tucker and relished by birds, bats & possums. Good indoor plant.

Grows in coastal rainforests from north east New South Wales through to tropical north Queensland.
A strangler fig with aerial roots and growing to approximately 35m. Often germinates after deposition by birds on other trees.
This species is often seen growing over other trees, but can grow as a free standing specimen also. Grows in full or part sun on a range of soils, but prefers some moisture and enrichment. Too large or most urban gardens but perfect for rainforest blocks or parks. Excellent shade giving tree.
